Algae-derived, long-chain omega-3 in vegan, gelatin-free capsules.
The Science
Omega-3 fats are essential nutrients, meaning that we have to get them from our diets. Plant-based foods contain the short chain omega-3 fat ALA which our body can convert to the long chain omega-3 that it needs, namely EPA and DHA. However, less than 5% of dietary ALA is converted to DHA, meaning that consuming even extremely high quantities of ALA-rich foods (flax seeds, etc.) may not get you to meet your recommended daily requirements of EPA and DHA.
EPA and DHA help regulate inflammation and must be consumed in proportion to omega-6 fats, which support inflammation. However, urban Indian diets contain 38 to 50 times as much omega-6, which can promote chronic inflammation.
DHA is additionally important because it is also an important structural part of our brain, eyes, nerves, and cells.
Nutrova Complete Omega 3 contains a vegan-sourced DHA, making it ideal for vegans, vegetarians who do not consume much dairy and individuals with fish allergies looking to increase their omega-3 intake.
Frequently asked questions

many
capsules

It’s important to have at least 1 capsule daily, but we encourage you to have 2, given the minimal intake of this nutrient in a typical vegan or vegetarian diet.
Why
is
this
different
from
flaxseed
oil
supplements?
Flaxseed oil is an excellent source of short-chain omega-3 fats (ALA), but does not contain DHA, the omega-3 fat that forms a part of our brain, nerves, eyes and skin. Our body can convert ALA to DHA, but in a very low conversion rate (only 1 to 4% gets converted). Directly consuming DHA is important in order to derive its proven health benefits.

Most easy on the palate omega 3
Nutriva vegan omega 3 capsules have the least algal/ slight fishy hint and it does not linger at all after swallowing. No regurgitation at all and no bad after taste. Most other brands give me horrible tasting regurgitation but not this one. After just 2-3 days of taking these, my dry eyes got better and my post exercise soreness reduced dramatically. The stiffness felt in muscles after long hours of sitting also vanished. These immediate effects made me very happy. I recommend this for all.

Unlike omega-3 products that contain both EPA and DHA, this product focuses specifically on providing vegans and vegetarians with substantial DHA. EPA can be obtained through partial conversion from plant-based ALA. Our focus was on developing a DHA product with a suitably high dose and good sensory characteristics, to enable vegans and vegetarians to obtain a suitable quantity of this essential ingredient.
