Since our inception, our goal at Nutrova has been to develop evidence-based nutrition products that can deliver measurable outcomes. When we first started working on collagen peptides over a decade ago, two things were clear: collagen peptides are an incredibly powerful ingredient and there isn’t enough data on Indian consumers.
Global research in Japan, Korea and Europe clearly showed that collagen peptides can visibly improve skin health. The big question was would we see the same results in the Indian context, given the harsher weather, pollution and diverse diets.
The Study
To ensure neutrality, we tied up with an independent, internationally accredited Contract Research Organisation (CRO) — CLAIMS Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai, India — to conduct the study. The study was conducted over three months in three stages:
(i) Day -30 to Day 0: Participants were given a placebo for 30 days in blank sachets. The placebo was just the flavour components of Nutrova Collagen+Antioxidants
(ii) Day 0 to Day 30: Participants were given the actual product in the same blank sachets
(iii) Day 30 to Day 60: Participants continued using the actual product in the same blank sachets.
Participants were evaluated before and after each of these stages by a dermatologist, with 3D imaging and with specialized instruments that measured parameters including skin elasticity, firmness and hydration.
The Results
Nutrova Collagen+Antioxidants showed statistically significant improvements across several markers of skin health.
-
Wrinkles around the eyes (crow’s feet) showed a visible reduction, clearly visible in the 3D imaging

- Improvements in Skin Firmness, Elasticity and Skin Hydration Both skin firmness and elasticity showed measurable improvements within 30 days, confirming the structural benefits of collagen peptide supplementation
- Skin hydration improved markedly, reflected by a decrease in Trans-Epidermal Water Loss (TEWL) — a measure of how much water the skin naturally loses through evaporation. Lower TEWL values indicate stronger skin barrier function and better moisture retention.
- Blemishes lightened significantly when evaluated using specialized instruments.
-
Pore size and volume were reduced, contributing to smoother skin texture.

- An unexpected (but welcome) outcome was a significant reduction in dark circles

In addition to these measurements, participants were asked to assess their own skin, and their feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Participants reported perceivable improvements:
-
88% observed reduction in dark circles and wrinkles
-
85% observed reduction in dark spots
-
79% noticed smaller skin pores
-
97% felt their skin was firmer and had a glowing appearance
The study findings were submitted to the peer-reviewed Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology, leading to the Nutrova team's first international publication.
